This is a really weird one...
A client of mine contacted me on Wednesday saying his Logic XSKey had exploded. I would usually think that theyre doing something stupid, or exaggerating the situation (I get a lot of calls like this you see...). In this case, its totally true!
In the middle of a recording session, Logic Pro 7 quits saying no XSKey, the computer shuts down, and there is a high pitched whistle coming from the back of the Mac Pro. The dongle was literally blowing itself up like a balloon! It was removed immediately (burning fingers on molten plastic), and has now set in the shape you see in the pictures...

Not something you see every day! I'm really not sure how this is even possible considering USB connections are 5v 0.1A, nowhere near enough power to cause overheating like this!
My contact at Apple has shipped out a couple of reaplacements right away, although we're right on the verge of going over to Logic Studio anyway (XSKey-less thankfully). I thought I'd share this with the MacRumours community for interests sake, and to see if anyone else has ever seen this before!?!
Cheers!
