I clean installed Lion, yet I am having problems logging in, logging out, and user switching.
To explain:
-I have two user accounts, both with administrator privledges. When I try to log out, shut down, or restart from either, the machine often (8 times out of 10) gets stuck at the grey screen, with the pinwheel spinning indefinately, forcing me to hold down the power button to restart.
-Other times, when logging out, the machine actually does get back to the grey linen login screen, with both user accounts listed, but that screen stays unresponsive for a long time. Meaning, I can see the two circles for each user account, and I can move the mouse pointer (so it's not totally "frozen"), but clicking on either account, or the shut down/sleep/restart buttons at the bottom does not register any response. After about 3-6 minutes, a click might register a response, allowing me to input the user account password and log in, but other times the system just reboots itself and puts me back at the login screen (Which is again, unresponsive for awhile)
-Once I actually log in/use each user account, everything is seemingly fine, and the computer performs as normal.
Any ideas?
So far, I have tried:
-check and repaired permissions
-verified and repaired disk
-safe boot
-SMC and NVRAM/PRAM reset
And the problem persists.
I was hoping that someone might be able to look at the console logs and see if they can see anything, I have trouble understanding those.
Also, could this be a hardware problem? I am at my wits end trying to figure this out. I hoped a clean install of Lion would wipe away my problems...obviously not.
Thank you for your help/any info/suggestions.
