I'm in the market for a HomeKit enabled security camera which can be wall mounted to keep an eye on my dogs when I'm away from home. I've found that the Logitech Circle 2 meets my needs, with the benefit of being updated later this year with HomeKit Secure Video support with iOS 13.

They are currently on offer on Amazon with it being Prime Day.

My question is, is the Circle 2 still worth it or should I hold off until later in the year to see what the announced manufactures who are going to support HomeKit Secure Video bring to the market? I realise this could simply be new firmware (in logitech's case) but does anyone think there could be a Circle 3 or new similar product from another manufacture?

Just don't want to waste my money.

Where do you see the Logitech Circle 2 on Prime Day offer? It shows it listed at $179.99 which is regular price. Keep in mind only the wired version is HomeKit compatible.

I think it depends on how soon you'd like a security camera. Logitech did confirm on their site that the Circle 2 would get a firmware update to support the new HomeKit Secure Video, so technically, even you purchased a Circle 2 now, you'd still be able to utilize the new HomeKit Secure Video later.

In terms of it there is a Circle 3 on the horizon....unfortunately, that's the nature of tech, many times we don't know when or plans change (I was waiting awhile for the HomeKit enabled Canary camera, but I think it was announced in for a 2017 fall release, but never materialized)

Ultimately, it depends on how soon you wanted or needed a security cam. If it's not a big deal, you could wait & see, but if you were planning on getting one now, at least you know the Circle 2 will get a firmware update.

It was available here in the UK on Day 1 of our Prime Day....sorry to get your hopes up.

Ah damn, ok... I have 5 of them currently and looking to get more. But I’m always looking for deals on them. Didn’t see anything on a newer version yet but I’m sure they’re up for a refresh and wouldn’t be surprised if they launch a new one for the HomeKit secure storage. I like them but I don’t love them. HomeKit integration is great but many are reporting that they can’t view streams through HomeKit remotely. I have that issue only occasionally but for the most part they work. The speaker could be louder when using two way audio and there’s a hissing sound with the audio when listening on more than half volume. Streams come up pretty quick tho. Much faster than my Ring cameras. Wouldn’t pay full price for them until these issues are fixed but for a good deal, they’re not bad.

I think this will be fixed / changed with the new HomeKit Secure implementation.
