Alongside AirPods Max, Apple today also began selling the new Logitech Circle View Wired Doorbell, one of the first video doorbells with support for HomeKit Secure Video.

The Circle View Doorbell includes Logitech's "TrueView" video technology with a 160º field of view, head-to-toe HD video quality, HDR, and color night vision. As a wired doorbell, the Circle View connects to your existing doorbell setup, including indoor chime modules.

While Robin's ProLine Doorbell was the first doorbell to support HomeKit Secure Video, that's a professional-level doorbell priced in excess of $500, so Logitech's Circle View is really the first HomeKit Secure Video doorbell aimed at consumers.

HomeKit Secure Video gives you 10 days of iCloud-stored footage that doesn't count against your iCloud limits, although you need to have at least a 200GB iCloud plan to support one camera or a 2TB iCloud plan to support up to five cameras.

HomeKit Secure Video also gives you private video analysis that occurs directly on your Apple device rather than on cloud servers, as well as full encryption before anything is sent to iCloud. It also integrates with people tags from the Photos app in order to identify who is at your door.

The Logitech Circle View Wired Doorbell is priced at $199.95 and is available now from the Apple online store.

Been waiting for something like this after only seeing HomeKit Secure Video cameras and no doorbells for a while. Too bad my local store doesn't offer curbside pickup for this or I would definitely already be installing on launch day ;)

My ring door bell stopped working, I've tried everything, new transformer, but it seems to work for 5 minutes then go dead. So I ordered a Logitech Circle camera with HomeKit secure video and was going to just use the motion detection and forget about having a door bell. That was yesterday. So needless to say I've canceled my order and got on of these.

I need to move my doorbell wire to the other side of my door, then golden.

What would be REALLY cool is if Apple opened up Face ID / Touch ID to third-party IoT devices like this. I can envision a future where my doorbell detects I'm there and just opens the door. Sure, there are a couple of smart doorbells that have tried this with their own scanning technology, but I trust Apple a lot more in terms of security and efficacy in implementing biometric scanning.

Not much info on this. I’m wondering if there is an angle mount since my doorbell is perpendicular to my door. I’d like to ditch my Arlo Video doorbell for this.

Planning to ditch my Arlo Video Doorbell for this one as well. I'm happy to post an update here once I get it to compare the wide-angle views and let you know if it includes an angle mount.

Very interesting. I'm about ready to move on from my Skybell and was set on the Nest Hello for Google Home Hub integration. At $199, this might be a game changer for me.

I would probably be okay without a monthly fee, but $2.99 for the 200GB iCloud plan has its benefits too. Next step up would be joining a Apple One bundle plan and utilizing Apple Fitness+...

I did that move recently, wasn't expecting a HomeKit door bell to appear. Helps that I already had Nest cams in place elsewhere outside the house to finally combine all the video into one place, even if that place is Google. I think I'm too heavily invested in Nest cams and Nest Aware services now to switch but integration of HomeKit cameras with Photos facial recognition and iCloud storage is an attractive one. Wish it was around a couple years ago when I went down the security camera path.

You moved on specifically from a Skybell? If so, how would you say the performance/speed/overall quality has improved? I've seen a Nest Hello in action with a Home Hub and was very impressed, but I'd love to hear some first hand experience from an identical situation.

My doorbell is perpendicular as well. Not sure if the angle mount will be enough.

I had 2 of the newest Logitech cameras that will only work with Homekit and I have to say it was not that great and not worth the price, watching recorded video was hit or miss, I had Wyze cam's before and then went to Logitech for Homekit but I went back to Wyze and they are a lot cheaper, yes but I have had no issues and there outdoor camera system is amazing, it was a lot of money just to go back to what worked before or an expensive test, just my opinion, thanks
