Agree, which makes me not like it.

Really? I think the Surface is fantastic. However it did take them 3 times to get it right, but now it is quite strong (except for the whole windows thing) :)

I do give credit where it is due, and for productivity (Word/Excel - office in general), it's much better but more expensive then an Ipad.

What is the os like, it would feel weird to use osx on a tablet for example, and does the windows store not have a serious dearth of apps, although, i do appreciate one can install any windows programme.

I am currently undecided between the ipad air 2, surface pro 3 or the sony z4 tablet.

The square corners look bad and will be uncomfortable in many use cases, even if they do provide more drop protection and are not hard plastic.

Why would I want to hide the sleek design of something that turns my device into something so fugly?!

O god, I'm so not qualified to help you on this! I am bias and love my 11inch Macbook Air and use that as my main portable device. I think it is far superior then any kind of tablet and far more useful then an Ipad. But it depends on your usage.

I don't think I would ever give up macbook air for a surface3 or a windows based device. And I choose it over a Chromebook or any android device hands down. For me I thought about upgrading my macbook air but the 12 inch macbook pro is useless and i wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole (the one port for me is the killer, especially sharing it with the power port). I think it's so far ahead of it's time it's one of those products that shouldn't have been released and kept it in a closet until someone thought of ways to make it more practical.

Right now my next decisions is on a tablet for my kid. I'm on the fence but leaning towards android tablet as I think the ipads have fallen behind in basic utility because I would want to use it from time to time. Ipads are great media browser and I know people on here love there Ipad for there tasks, and swear by there apps. For business application I think it lacks substance. I love android kids mode, guided access on IPad is meh...

I think you will be fine whatever you choose. Just don't make an emotional buy and buy based on superficial qualities.
