So there was a humble bundle not long ago that got me a bunch of games I've never heard of because I'm not a gamer but I like to support anyone that supports Linux sooooo..

I installed steam a couple days ago and all the games that were available in Linux are available in OSX. So I started playing them and realized I'm probably not going to be able to make the keyboard and mouse thing work. With that in mind I bought this logitech gamepad yesterday for 30 Euro it's supposed to be Mac and Linux compatible and I'm sure it is I guess but it does nothing in steam. Is there a way to fix that the wisdom of the internet seems meh to nay to WTF would you want a controller for.

I was pro keyboard/mouse since back in the 90s. Eventually I went to consoles and got so hooked on controllers, I just found them to be more comfortable for me. I'm nowhere near as precise with a controller as with a k/m combo, but some games in particular I think just work better (Batman series for example).

Controller support in OS X has a great dependence on the hardware and game itself. Valve games pretty much have no support for gamepads while titles published by Aspyr or Feral Interactive work pretty much as well as their Windows counterparts.

A PS3 DualShock or official Xbox 360 controller would be a better choice for use on a Mac.

Agreed -- I've used both a wired and wireless 360 controller, and have now been using a PS4 controller to experiment. So far, so good. But some old games do NOT like these controllers. I've found sensitivity is off the scale on older games such as Wing Commander, so I may be trying out Joystick Mapper or similar apps.
