I rarely see anyone mention the gesture button in the logitech mice. That button doesn't work in iPad?

you're going to have to be more specific about "that button" because i've bought 3 mice (4 technically, i bought two M590s for home and work) and they've each had different number of buttons capable of gesture programming in logi options for a mac.

on iPad OS some work and some don't. and they don't do gestures in the same way - they're just simple buttons.

Usually it is a button right below the mouse wheel. Or in the Logitech MX 3 it is a tiny button that sits in the thumb rest.
Pressing it does one action and press and hold will activate gestures.

So you are saying the gesture function doesn't work but still you can use it as a button?

FYI that's something that can be programmed to any button on a logitech mouse. I have three gesture buttons.

On the more advanced mice that might be possible. But might not.
  • My M336 has a gesture button behind the scroll wheel but it doesn't work as a button on iPad OS. The scroll wheel is also not recognised as a button.
  • My M590 didn't have a gesture button there, but the scroll wheel functions as a button. The two side buttons also function as buttons.
  • My M720 has a gesture button under the thumb but it doesn't work as a button on iPad OS. The scroll wheel functions as a button. The two side buttons also function as buttons.

Assuming you mean like the button under your thumb on the MX Master 3 - it opens up the last open app and it is not programmable under AssistiveTouch.

If you press an hold. does it bring up the app switcher?
