Day One: UPS dropped (literally) the box on my back porch this afternoon and within a couple of minutes I had this running via unifier on my PC and via bluetooth on my 2017 MBP and Gen 1 12.9 iPad Pro. I switched to this from a Das Keyboard Pro which I absolutely hated from day one.

Initial thoughts: It's really well build and heavy, obviously in an Apple style. It is also really low so as it does not come with a wrist rest (more on that later) if you already have one it might be too high. Mine was a little over 3/4" high and unusable. On the wrist rest... Logitech's web site clearly lists the "MX Keys Plus Palm Rest" as part of the package contents but it most certainly is NOT included and is actually listed on Logitech's site as a separate item for a whopping $20.

I did not notice this prior to ordering and have emailed them to see if they will make good on this.

Setup: Was super easy and switching between devices has so far been flawless. I had a bit of trouble (constant disconnects) with my MX Master 2S Mouse being connected via bluetooth and ended up using the unifier which for the last year of more has been perfect. As I hate dongles and such I tried bluetooth for my MBP and iPad and so far this has worked perfectly.

Function: The backlit keys only light up when your hands come near the keyboard, this works great so far and goes a long way to conserving battery life. The charging cable can be used during function but is odd in that it is USB A on the computer end and USB C on the keyboard end... can we make up our minds? Not really sure why they would incur the cost of the USB C port to not have it on both ends for the Apple crowd (and the newer PC folk as most new motherboards have USB C).

Typing: I am not a speed typist and have a bit of a bastardized technique. The Das Keyboard Pro I am coming from had long key travel with almost no resistance, therefore having large hands I spent most of my time correcting errors because I grazed the key next to the one I meant to hit. The MX Keys key travel is significantly shorter but the keys are far less susceptible to accidental strokes, the difference was immediately felt.

Support: As most of you familiar with Logitech know their support is abysmal, the phone support is for "technical" issues only, nothing but email support if you, god forbid, have a presales question or have a problem with your order. My order took forever so stock on these seems to be an issue, Amazon is already charging a premium at $129 US vs Logitech at $99. I was also forced to create an account in order to create a support ticket, I can only assume that Logitech is selling our contact info, why else force this on someone who might have only the simplest of support questions.

I will update this as I use it more but so far this keyboard at $99, for me, has been an excellent purchase over my old $149 Das Kb Pro. YMMV.

I took at look at this keyboard at the store and was surprised at how much I liked it (as a picky "keyboard snob," if you wish).

Long term durability is an unanswered question, but the build quality is good, with a nice heft and a key action on the better end of a mass market membrane keyboard.

I don't need the one-keyboard-for-multi-device thing, so for me the extra labels and slightly different layout are compromises. It also lacks an Eject key, which may be an anachronism to many, but one I still use constantly to activate sleep or power down, so I'd dearly miss it.

I'd also have to try it to see it would work without a wrist rest. Having to use one again after years of low-profile Apple keyboards would be a step backward. IIRC, I think I saw that they were including one for free, but only as a launch promo for direct Logitech purchases. Otherwise, another $20 would be another deterrent.

If Logitech made a version with a full Mac layout, I'd give it more serious consideration. But they haven't put effort into an Apple specific model since the K750, or even further back, the diNovo models.

Their wrist rest is .3" high which should be a nice addition. So far I have been using it without one and it has been fine but I do have an oversized gaming mouse pad under it so I do have some padding.

Speaking of the wrist rest...

Logitech is claiming that the above screen shot from their web site was a mistake and that only the "MX Keys Plus" that is available in Europe comes with the wrist rest and that is not available in the US, meanwhile their web page still says it comes with the keyboard.

If it's a mistake then they need to correct it.

It's listed on the U.S. site (en-us), and with the U.S. model part number.

I wouldn't accept some L1 support rep trying to BS their way out of it, and see if a higher up can make good, even if only as a gesture of goodwill.

I recall them doing the same thing in the past, with a receiver cradle extension that wasn't in the package, but could be requested from support.

As you alluded to earlier, they're not known for their support, which is another reason I'm wary of their stuff in general, but it can't hurt to ask.

Update... yesterday I received an email from Logitech support stating a "replacement" has been requested from the next level of support, could take 72 hours to approve. A step in the right direction.

As of 10/4 9:20am est their site still says int's included! These mythical intarwebz pages must be really hard to update.

Couple of weeks in....

Typing for me has been great and a huge change from the DAS that I came from, that being said I am not a coder or writer so my typing is emails, usual business etc. I am guessing I make 15% of the typing errors I used to.

Battery life has been unexpectedly REALLY good! They say 5 days with backlighting and I went way longer than that without the warning light even coming on. Again I don't write or code but in addition to normal business use I do game a bit on the PC side so that thing is staying lit a fair bit. It will be interesting to see how the battery ages over time but as it works plugged in as well I am not overly concerned.

Switching back and forth between devices has been great, I have been trying to break this but it has been 100%, again my PC is via the Logi unifier and my MBP and iPad over bluetooth. My MX Master 2s mouse has been the same and is connecting the same way.

If you switch between devices and need something more substantial than the Logi 380 or 480 etc but don't want or need to buck up for the Craft I think you need look no further.

On the wrist rest saga....

So as stated above they indicated that they would send out a wrist rest after a 72 hour "approval process". Its been over a week and I still haven't heard a thing. I emailed them a few days ago for an update but also heard nothing. Their web site STILL says the wrist rest is included!!!

So the wrist rest saga has come to a close! While Logitech's web site STILL says that the wrist rest comes with the MX Keys Keyboard when it does not and after many emails and posts to their support site Logitech has elected to NOT send me a MX Keys Plus Keyboard Palm Rest......

What Logitech support did do however was to send me an another keyboard, I'm out /mic-drop

🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤯

This just popped back into my mind, and I was curious about what the end result was…

In the end, they didn't send the wrist rest, but another (duplicate) keyboard?

So, instead of a drop of oil for a squeaky wheel, they dumped a can? LOL.

This MX Keys keyboard is causing the BT on my iMac Pro to reset. I then have to wait for the keyboard to reconnect. No other BT devise causes this issue. When I turn off the MX Keyboard the issue goes away. Clearly a Logitech driver issue and their driver is required for this keyboard. Very disappointing.

Just bought one of these for my PC workstation at home. I purchased it because I wanted a low-profile backlit & wireless keyboard but needed the RF dongle as my workplace's IT disables bluetooth on the workstation.

It seems heavy and well-built. Won't slide around on the desk. So far I like it.

Sorry I fell asleep on this... yes, instead of sending a wrist rest they sent a complete 2nd keyboard that now sits quietly in reserve, waiting for me to ruin yet another keyboard with wine.

A couple of months in... still a great keyboard and solid performer, won't be giving this up anytime soon.

@ZipZap Are you still having this issue? Also have an iMP and considering this kb but have had issues with flaky Logitech bluetooth in the past.

I had BT problems on my PC and ended up using their usb receiver, BT on my 2017 mbp has been perfect.

While I'm a big fan of the Apple Wired Keyboard, and still am, I got curious and picked up the Mac version of the MX Keys to try out.

Overall, it's a nice keyboard, and I have no problems adjusting to typing on it, even without the wrist rest :D. I mainly wanted it for the backit keys.

I'm not sure what the Logitech Options software adds in terms of functionality, but the keyboard seems to work fine without it, so I'm not inclined to install it, given the poor reputation of Logitech's driver software, and my aversion to installing stuff that adds additional daemons to the system. The fact that the setup instructions inside the box flap point to a URL that downloads an older, and the not the current version is sloppy.

The one issue I found was that it lost the BT connection on the second day, and had to be re-paired.

That's not an unheard of problem, even with Apple's own input devices, so I'm not sure it can be pinned on Logi, and not Apple.

Still, that's not a plus, so I'll monitor it for the next week, and decide whether to keep it.
