I've found that people who really love technology (as in, people on this site) don't really love humor.

Oh, they'll argue that they do. They'll link to things they like to try and prove me wrong. But here's the thing: They only love the absolute best of the best. If something's not amazing then they have no use for it. It's either a 100 or a zero. They rate nothing in between. (Look at the comments so far. You all either love it or hate it. This is my point.)

But here's the deal, guys. If 'the best' is all you like then you're not really all that into humor. (Likewise, if you only have 2 restaurants you like, then you're not really into food, no matter how much you love those 2. Same thing.) It's ok, there's nothing wrong with this! But it's time to own up to the fact. Macrumors nerds are not humor fans. I've been here a long time and it's very clear to me. This level of humor (somewhat funny, but not amazing...a solid C+) ALWAYS performs poorly when posted here. The concept of "ok" in the world of humor just doesn't make sense to people here.

It's just the way it is.

Well said, and it’s because of the attitude of these people that people hate Apple.

I am new to Apple, i find this video pretty funny, and also find it sad that people are so obsessed with a product.

One of the least funny things I've seen.

The whole "let's do a pastiche of Apple marketing adverts" thing is so commonplace now that you have to do it really well for it to be worthwhile. Just throwing in juvenile sex refernces might appeal to brainless teenagers but it's not actually funny.

I agree... for the most part. ;)

But I don't think it's that they only like "the best" humor, I think it's that they only like "smart" humor. I've seen this for a while now... the general population seems to like "dumb" humor... fart jokes, random swearing, etc... Whereas nerds don't find that funny. They only like well thought-out and constructed, genuinely clever humor. I guess you could argue that that's the "best", I just thought I would add my observations.

Well, I'm certainly not saying that the Macrumors population is the only one that does this. You're correct, you can find the same mentality of "thumbs all the way up or all the way down" in many other places, even if they give their thumbs up to a totally different kind of humor.

My main point is that some places are full of people who love to rate humor on a wide scale with many levels. This is not one of those places.

It also doesn't help that the target of the video is not the iPhone and not Apple, but rather it is specifically about the people on this site. It's hard for people to get over the fact that they're being made fun of. I sure as heck don't mind, but you can see how it doesn't help matters.
