Congratulations London, you did a great job in putting on this Olympics, closing ceremonies excepted.

I thought overall, it was a great olympics and for once the TV coverage wasn't awful. Prior olympics, they'd cut in on the competition to have one of those feel good stories. NBC mostly seemed to do this before the competition or at the beginning of the broadcast.

Dear world: Sorry about the closing ceremony, can we just forget about that bit. Thanks.

Yeah, some of the artists weren't perfect, but really? The ceremony was great. It's not the grammy awards, we're not expecting every single singer there to be perfect. It's just about having fun, and clearly everyone there in the stadium was having a great time.

...and that as they say, is that.

I have to say, I was flagging at the end, but London did a better job than I though they would...Credit where credit is due. We (USA) did well, but as has been pointed out, take away the swimming golds, and team GB, would have ranked 2nd overall.

Bet that won't happen in Reo though...A fantastic event, I have over 150 hours of 3D footage to put together..Haven't watched it yet!

the closing ceremony was great... please take your negativity elsewhere

I'm entitled to my opinion, so I'll stay right here thanks.

You to are entitled to yours too, although I think you are in a very small minority of people who thought it was great. I have been on many sites today and the vast majority of people disliked it, it was a horrible, disjointed and badly mimed it times. So much great music has come from our country, it was a terrible choice of artists - IMO. Shame because the Blur concert in Hyde Park was meant to be awesome.

Still, great opening ceremony and games :)

Proud to be a Brit over the last 2 weeks, last night was slightly embarrassing though.

To say that the closing ceremony wasn't a patch on the opening one is fair comment I think, because it really wasn't. But looking at the positives of last night, at least Coldplay didn't turn up.

How very, very true.

I think I'll upgrade my assessment from "awful" to "not very good".

:p

The Kaisers were down in the original score for the opening ceremony...song deemed "Inappropriate" and that's why they got the gig for the closing...I've watched it all in 2D whilst typing...So so. But as a games to follow the Chinese where money was no object, I take my hat off to the Brits...A damn good job.

Clearly the organizers felt they weren't needed afer The Spice Girls, Muse, George Michael and that pop tart who ruined the Queen song.

It was great to see George Michael on stage again. A lot of Brits have a certain affection spot for him, he's had a turbulent time and still keeps going.

Muse were really underrated, they managed to capture some atmosphere, which most of the other more accomplished performers didn't through the TV.

My main gripe is that Bowie didn't show up. I'm sure he'll be asked soon, I'd love to hear why.

The 3D jigsaw of John Lennon was impressive, as was George Michael: never seen him perform before, but he's certainly extremely competent. Far too much Madness, though.

The band or the fortnight? :D

It's fine for you folks, nowninhave to make sense of it all for DVD consumption...I just watched the closing ceremony on my iPad with the new retina BBC I player...I can't say it looks any better. The 3D camera work is awful, has been throuout the games....They have the right gear, just don't yet know how to use it properly. I can't clean it up much, focal length is off. Played with the depth and other settings on my Sony, mbut it's going to be a compromise.
