Wow. British stores stocking international keyboards.

Any chance of them offering a proper British keyboard layout with (for example) the double-quote on the 2, a proper '#' key and the '@' over on the right-hand side?

I guess Mac-only people are used to the current Apple UK layout, but its annoying if you're swapping between Mac and PC or running virtual machines.

Yes, this is a long-term niggle of mine. Both from needing to switch between all sorts of machines myself, but also supporting users, some of whom have just switched from a PC to a Mac and become confused about the keyboard.

There is a universally recognised British keyboard layout, that every other computer system, typewriter, ... sold in this country adheres to. Except for Apple.

I can never remember without hunting around which combination of keys produces the unlabelled #, although I suppose we should be grateful it does at least have a pound symbol!

Steve.

yawn...

boring story. big deal, apple is prepared to sell you stuff. this probably affects 0.001% of the population of mac users.

In a post about spelling, you'd think you'd take extra care not to make any errors. The correct use of the English in your sentence should read: "...much faster with fewer errors".

It would seem that tiled keys can't correct bad grammar. ;-)

PS. This post carries a sarcastic undertone, certainly no offence is intended. Whether it was intentional or not, you made me laugh. :)

Thank public education in the US ;) You are absolutely correct. I with I had a grammar button.

PS. Your post made me giggle.

Anyone with an ounce of sense would avoid London during the Olympics. Why someone would want to buy high value products in the UK with our inflated prices is anyone's guess...!

Let's start a campain now. Down with the stupid placement of speech marks, @ symbols and backslash keys. And down with having to press alt+3 for a #!

A smart, logical move by Apple. This could lead to some really happy customers who would have otherwise been screwed over. But how common is keyboard damage, actually?

I would hate to be a regular customer trying to service their computer at these London stores, during the Olympics. Good look to those who need it.

As an aside, I've been thinking...If anthropomorphized computers competed in the Olympic games, we could expect Macs to win the most gold medals. :D ;)
