And given that the training for a Tube driver is a matter of months and the training for good business analysts takes several years, it's not surprising they get paid more. Incidentally, I'm not condoning the salaries with 4 or 5 zeros behind the digits or those with a similar level of bonus which are ridiculous.

I'd just like to point out I'm not paid in that category, especially not bonus! Those numbers you read in the papers are for traders, not technology, operations, and the rest of the support staff.

Although 4 zeros after it could be as low as 10000, I assume you were talking about xx0000!

I take your point applespider that indeed would be a better option we can but hope.
robbie, come back with you view on reasoned discourse when your lords and masters find your surplus to requirements.

The thing I like about transport strikes is that of all the people fuming about not being able to get to work there will be a few who will say "what the f**k was I doing that for" and decide to go of and do something they want to do.

By the way the initial training for a tube driver is 22 months.(edit weeks not months)

What exactly does a "good business analyst " produce?

What exactly does a "good business analyst " produce?

I don't personally know! Are there any "good business analysts"? (Sorry, technology staff tend to be very cynical).

I think we should let this discussion (argument, whatever) drop as this thread is way, way off topic now and destined for the political forums where I try never to venture.

I for one think that the tube drivers are overpaid.
I earn less per hour
Get told when I'm working and when I'm not (and work every other weekend)
Have trained for far longer
Cannot go on strike
Have a different, but many would argue greater, level of responsibility
And I'm working Christmas and New Years
(in fact maybe i should just track down that self-pity thread)

Still my job probably isn't quite so boring.

Have you been in to a small cafe at all?

Before I had to come out here, I had only heard of Rickmansworth via Douglas Adams. Now I've been out here for a while, I wish it had stayed that way.

Which reminds me, I've got to change my sig back to the Douglas Adams deadlines quote. It fits very nicely with the work I am doing at the moment.

Have you ever thought of the possibility that your underpaid rather than the tube drivers are overpaid?

As someone paid from the public purse who'll be getting a less than inflation payrise this year, I'd say that they can't afford to pay me more. And they still get paid too much.

Unfortunately, it's of proven effectiveness. Not much room for a driver to swerve to avoid you, and if the train don't get you, the live rail will.

They should turn up at my place of work. I'm sure I can be imaginative. Such a waste jumping in front of easily freaked Tube drivers when we could both be having fun.

Opposite here. Manchesters Arndale Centre was full today, absolutely heaving. And this was at 2pm when it's normally dead.

Crazy.
