Congrats!

Congratulations - I am just two weeks into my streak, and already got the buzz! Don't see me making it to a 500 streak though, that's just crazy talk :)

However, as far as I can tell, all the awards for 100 and above do not say anything about requiring a continuous streak. Still a crazy good thing to achieve.

Is 450 calories a 'medium' target for you? I know the target varies with age, weight, and gender, so I am looking at 1000 calories for the medium at the moment - and understand most folks get around half that target!

I just got my watch and started with medium. At age 52 and 195 pounds. 5'11' it gave me 680 calories. I walked 5 miles in a day and still did not achieve it. I lowered it to 500 calories. Today I did 35 minutes elliptical in the morning and a 1.5 mile walk in the afternoon plus some other walking during the work day and I was over 700 calories. It is deffinelty tough on Active calories still need to test it out more, I would of thought 3 walks on Sunday over 5 miles would got me my goal but I guess not.

The move goal is active calories, so what seems like a low number may not be the case, however the watch also starts with a low goal and provides a weekly summary on Monday morning and wants to adjust to your habits. So as you keep beating your goal for a few weeks the watch will up the goal. Of course, I think you have to hit ok otherwise it stays with old goal.

For example, my move goal is now up to 700 cal. and I have almost a 300 day streak going, so I try and go out of my way to keep the streak going. If you run or go to gym frequently and wear watch while there it will force your personal goal to go way up.

Obviously you can override and push it back down to a low number.

To OP-congrats on the streak, let the watch and your streak push you by allowing your goal to move up slowly 10 cals at a time or so. I am glad I have done so, it forces me to take a short walk, park further away just to get a few extra movements in a day.

I am getting by essentially on just walking at the moment, making sure to take the long route into the office and home each day. I think I hit my 'medium' target at around 6 miles, although it helps to walk 'vigorously'. Also, make sure the arm with the watch can swing freely, as that is part of how the watch can keep track of your actions.

I also get 30 flights of stairs a day, tracked by the iPhone. Not sure they count as anything but a slow walk as far as the activity rings are concerned though!

I think it is fair to start a workout when taking a 1.5 mile walk. That will get your exercise ring and many of your calories.

If I walk without setting a workout, I walk very fast and get credit for pretty much every minute. However, if I walk with my wife, I may only get 5-10 minutes of exercise tops. We walk much slower. Speed is important to be considered a workout and it may not be fair for some to not consider a walk as exercise just because of speed.

That is a Great accomplishment! Congratulations....
Thankyou

...450 calories is somewhat above medium I would say ...still to achieve 450,you will have to do active walking or jogging for atleast 2.75 miles (in addition to the regular daily activities )..most of the days I touch above 500 ,but some days ...I will have to really work hard late(on my thread mill) in the night to get to my target ...I wanted to stay at the 500 range so that my target and goal is achievable ...on days when I lawn move or play with my kids ...I go well above 900 cals

Yes,I totally agree ...you will have to do a brisk walk with swinging arms ...also the stair stepper is the one which will give your very high cals for a very quick 10 min Exercise.

Don't give up ...it took 3.5 weeks for me (after purchase of my watch) to get used to and to get on track and start filling my rings in a streak ....
