If Apple does release an SDK and App Store for the Apple TV do we think the current Apple TV will support it? Or will it be exclusive to the new model?

Dead or very limited.
It's CPU and architecture definitely is capable... of using it's dedicated video decoder for video, and it's castrated single core A5 may be good for Angry Birds...
But anything like Infinity Blade or Real Racing stretched to the big screen is going to be tough to swallow.

I think Apple tv third generation may get an app store, but without games, and just utilities and things like that.
I don't really care about games. I would just like to see the UI redesign come to the current Apple TV and the ability to install apps like Plex.
