(or NeXT took over Apple, but that's another arguement)
This is exactly what happened. If you look at 90% of the execs, they used to work at NeXT!
Even thier engineers are from NeXT. Apple is just NeXT with lots of money, and a better brandname. IMHO of course. Though, if you look far back enough, all those NeXT people used to work at apple, so its kinda, um wierd isnt it..

Yes, yes. I know.

I know most of the board is NeXT people, NeXT engineers, ect. But that doesn't change what really happened. Apple bought NeXT, period. So Apple did in fact take over NeXT, not the other way around.

You can't say NeXT took over Apple because Apple was never available to be bought, NeXT was. There was still a MacOS platform with a userbase and active developers, third party and otherwise at the time, things were not as Rosy over at NeXT.

Really, if Apple hadn't bought them, they would have gone the way of BeOS.
(cue BeOS lurkers registering to deny their platform's obselesance)

Your correct, but essentially, NeXT did end up taking over apple (just not monetarily wise). Its a case of you are what you eat, apple ate NeXT but it turned out, NeXT was just looking for a "new host" so to speak. NeXT couldn't have survived much without apple, and apple couldn't have survived without NeXT. NeXT had the brains, apple had the spirit, they needed eachother... after all, it was steve that took apples brain out when he left, they just got it back when they "moved back in."

Think of it as if MS bought Novel, and the next year, Balmer and Gates, along with the rest of the executive staff and OS team were thrown out, and Novel's president was CEO of MS. Yes, MS bought Novel, but they were subject to a "reverse take over" it does happen.
