I wish it was out... my phone just went into stuck apple mode again... yay.. :( This is restore eleven in a little over 2 weeks.

I have a jailbroken 3G and I intend to perform an "Erase All Settings" as we have seen the Winterboard files stay around after Restore Upgrade in past firmwares. Is it safe to begin the 2 hour process at 1am and when I wake the 2.1 ipsw will be up and the Erase complete?

and when I wake the 2.1 ipsw will be up

How do you know it will be live when you wake up? It sounds like an ok plan, as long as you don't mind the possibilty of using a basic blank phone until it actually does go live, if it isn't there right when you wake up.

If you're really keen to be the first to discover the firmware link, go to http://www.itunes.com/version then in the XML look for <key>iPhone1,2</key> under <key>MobileDeviceSoftwareVersions</key>
and see if 2.1 is below there somewhere

FWIW my plan would have been timed perfectly. But...when I woke up my Erase All Content and Settings was still on the silver Apple Logo. So I just entered DFU Mode and Restored with 2.1. I hope it did some erasing before it froze :/
