You asked for cheap in your title. Then you ask for good in the OP. The two are often mutually exclusive.

That being said, I like Timbuktu laptop sleeves and cheap Jansport packs for affordable and relatively reliable.

Perhaps there are, but you asked for cheap & simple, so that's what I suggested.

Sure, I'm sure there are speciality bags specifically made for iPads, but they're going to be more niche and more expensive.

I'm personally more about simplicity and versatility.

With a bit of protection around the iPad (cheap protection sleeve maybe?) pretty much any backpack should work. Maybe there are some other qualities that are important to you?
