Wondering if anyone has recommendations. I have a Canon MX512 right now, 10+ years old, and it is on the fritz and needs to be replaced. Just as well, because Mac support for it has not been great since Apple dumped 32-bit app support, rendering the Canon apps for it unable to be run. It supports AirPrint (printing only) so I can print to it "natively" from a Mac or iPhone, but scanning requires VueScan (since Canon doesn't provide software anymore) and doesn't work in all apps.

So my list of requirements is basically:
  • Printing — Need to be able to print photos decently onto 4×6, 5×7 glossy photo paper, edge-to-edge (I think this means it will have to be inkjet)
  • Scanning — Needs a flatbed + ADF (I can scan a stack of papers), and it'd be great if the ADF supports duplex (I can scan both sides of a stack of papers without flipping the stack over and running it through again); scanning works in third-party apps (i.e. Adobe Acrobat/Photoshop)
  • Ethernet — Both printing and scanning over the network, not over USB
(I already have a Brother B&W laser printer which I use for bulk printing. This one would be for scanning mostly, but also occasionally printing photos or color documents.)

So, I know there are several out there but I'm wondering if anyone has a model that they have found reliable and in particular works with the Mac with no fuss.

HP is out. Not dealing with their ink cartridge DRM + push for a "subscription".
