Something simple for OSX 10.8.6....thanks!
Personally, I've always used The Unarchiver for this sort of thing. It's free and "just works".
Give it a shot!
ps. No, I'm not on their payroll! ;-)
I've used UnRarX for as long as I can remember... free also.
Another vote for UnRARx
I use MacPar, which in addition to handling all the par file verification and reconstruction, also unRARs. Free/donationware:
I use BetterZip.
is what I use:
It's available for download from their website, or from the App Store
from their website:
Keka is a free file archiver for Mac OS X
the main compression core is p7zip (7-zip port)
Compression formats supported:
7z, Zip, Tar, Gzip, Bzip2, DMG, ISO
Extraction formats supported:
RAR, 7z, Lzma, Zip, Tar, Gzip, Bzip2, ISO, EXE, CAB, PAX, ACE (PPC)
I vote Unarchiver. I've used UnRarX and MacPar and Unarchiver is the easiest and most consistent. Of course, I've used the others when I've had a file not cooperate, but rarely do the others work when Unarchiver doesn't.
