So I know there's a method that's free but it's like a 13 step process to password protect a folder. The user who needs this is not very computer savvy, so I need a streamlined solution. Ideally where you simple right click the folder and say "Password Protect" then whenever it's opened they're prompted for a password.

I realize the pitfalls with this logic, and have expressed that there are better ways to secure folders, however this is what the user wants. Can anyone recommend a program they have had experience with that fits my requirements?

I'm looking for something that could do this, too.

What I want:
- The ability to encrypt a SINGLE file, or several files or folders.

What I DON'T want:
- Filevault (which encrypts entire drive)
- an encrypted disk image (smallest size is about 11mb, I'm looking for a file of a few 100k)
- an encrypted pdf file.

Again, I just want an app that will encrypt a -single file-.

Does such software exist on the Mac?

I think 'mysafe' is what your after. Personally I prefer to use disk utility and have a protected virtual drive so to speak. But I can see why others like protected folders
