Yeah, true... to be honest, ever since the 701 was the clearly dominant model in the first round of these devices, there hasn't really been a strong leader. Asus, I think, remains quite competitive (in fact, I might even get an EeeBox). The Wind isn't half bad, although I think I like others better. But there's been something that a number of people did not like much at all for almost every device. That was true for the 701 also, I guess, although it was a relatively new thing and so perhaps it was exciting.

From all the random reading I've been doing on netbooks, I think the winner is the Acer Aspire One, but only with the 6-cell battery that'll be released soon. :)

Every one of them has some form of major flaw. Some are ugly and really thick bricks, one model has a really weird keyboard (the Dell?), the Lenovo gets too hot, the HP version is very expensive for what it is and has weird trackpad buttons, and some of their screens are very very glossy. However, the Acer may be the best that I've read about so far.

Samsung is coming out with one soon. Who knows how good it'll be.

That's pretty useful, but some of those machines are pretty fugly!

Anyway, here are some reviews from a Canadian computer/electronics store called NCIX. They also do videos. Gotta love those Canadians, eh?

EeePC 901 vs EeePC 1000. The 901 is the 9", and the EeePC 1000 is the version with the 40 GB SSD. If you buy the 1000H, you get the 80 GB harddisk (or larger). I'm just explaining for those who don't know.

Good comparison: Acer Aspire One, Asus Eee 901, HP 2133, and MSI Wind. He's not just annoying, he's informative. ;) Love the size comparison. The 6-cell version of the Acer Aspire One would be really awesome, but it seems that the Acer is huge compared to the EeePC 901, considering how the have the same screen size. It seems that the Acer is an 8.9" netbook placed into the body of a 10" netbook. Kind of defeats the purpose, no? May as well get a 10" rather than the 9" Aspire One. No size penalty.

I've only used the eeePC and the MSI Wind and I prefer the Wind, it looks great and has some really good performance.
