Hi, I've uploaded a backup of my iPhone to iCloud. I'm not looking to restore the data to a new device, I just want to completely clear my phone so that I can do a factory reset. However, I'm interested to see what's in these files, especially the attachments in my text messages. I used a program (Wondershare Dr. Fone) to download the backup from iCloud, but the program won't let me save the files to my PC to extract and view them without paying.

Does anyone know of a program I can get for FREE that allows me to not only download the backup, but to then save it and extract and view the files???

Thanks for any help! Shannon

If you want to view the files, why not do an iTunes backup? Goes straight to your hard drive.

I didn't think iTunes would actually allow you to open up the files? Does it? I'm really looking to view the attachments (pictures, videos) in my text messages

There are plenty of apps available for Windows and Mac that will allow you to browse the iTunes backup files and extract what you are looking for.

Rather than using an app to get your backup from iCloud and then maybe another app to browse the files in that backup I am simply suggesting backing up to iTunes which makes your files local and using one of those aforementioned apps to browse the backup files right on your hard drive.

No iCloud involved.

Oh ok, makes sense. Can you give me some names of some of these apps that will allow me to extract the files in the iTunes backup? Can I get some for both PC and Mac? My Mac hasn't been working for a long time...it sits on the Apple logo screen forever-I need to take it to the Apple store to be looked at. So I'm probably going to be doing all of this work on a PC.

Thanks!

Hi eyoungren, can you please give me the names of some apps to use?

Thanks, Shannon

Thank you so much! And this has been a big research project for me and I've already done so much Goog-ling, that I thought if someone could give me a familiar and good recommendation why not. Plus, every app I've looked into seems to cost tons of money...

Thank you again!
