I'm looking for an app that will keep taking pictures every second (or any user preset interval) without me having to hold the camera, just like a physical photo booth. I thought this would be a simple find but I can't find anything.

The native camera app and most camera 'timer apps' doesn't do what I want. The timer apps do the automatic part but they all only take one shot (the native app does a little burst but it takes all 10 shots in under a second, not spaced out like I want). Time lapse kind of does what I want but you can't control the interval and the individual stills are very low quality, nowhere near a regular photograph.

I just want to be able to set my iphone on a tripod and have it snap a regular full res shot taken every second continuously just like a physical photo booth. How do I do this?

A quick Google search for iOS time lapse app revealed a few. Check out Lapse It. Seems to do what you want.
