I just got a bluetooth enabled motorcycle helmet. I would like to be able to control my iphone with a small external control unit and leave my phone in my pocket.

I can answer/end calls, listen to music, adjust volume right on the helmet, so all i really want to be able to do with the external controls would be to pause music and skip tracks.

Something like the "Apple Remote" (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC377LL/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3NA&mco=MTMzODA4Nzk) would be perfect, but I don't plan on having an "iPod Universal Dock".

I was also thinking, because of the limited functionality of what I need the remote to do, would be like what the control on the stock iphone headphones does. If I were to get this Shure Music Phone Adapter (http://store.apple.com/us/product/TN544LL/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY) would I be able to use the button on the adapter and still have the sound come through Bluetooth? Or would the iphone think that there was a full headset plugged in?

Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if plugging something into the audio jack would cancel out the bluetooth or not, but you could always try something that connects via the dock to be safe. Something like this might work.
