Looking for first to provide a MBP i7 Vega 20 CPU Thermal Test

Apple with education pricing.

No way am I going with Adorama, you can't even return that **** once you open it. Plus, with Apple's holiday return policy I get to return it before Jan 9th.

Why would you want to return it? If you have issues, you can still exchange it with them. I'll be curious when you get yours in though.

Why would anyone want to return anything?

I sold my 2017 MBP cuz I couldn't stand the ****** keyboard. I bought my GF a 2018 MBP and the 3rd gen keyboard seems fine so I ordered one for myself.

If there are rumors of any 2019 spec bumps or updates and I'm still within the holiday return dates, I'll return it no questions asked. I've got another laptop and a desktop that will keep me running just fine.

Maybe then they should go look at them before buying and decide.

Maybe there are return policies for a reason, not sure what your problem is.

Why would I have a problem? Many are not having an issue except this one person above with the return policy. I just spent $5200 with Adorama, do I care about a return policy? No, because I know what I want and already know how the laptop is. I have no reason to return it. If I need to exchange it due to an issue, then so be it.

Anyone has an issue with a return policy, can go directly to Apple, and pay the $400-600 more for piece of mind.

It's funny how far you're willing to go with generalizing and your passive aggressiveness to make a point. Seems like it really ticked you the wrong way that this "someone" didn't go with Adorama, and chose to buy directly from Apple instead. Seemed to really tick you the wrong way when someone was willing to spend $400-600 more, yet you fail to mention someone in another thread responding to your comment saying the APINSIDER code w/ Adorama does not work anymore.

"Many are not having an issue except this one person above with the return policy", do you have the data to back that up? Nope, cuz you pulled that out of your behind. Purely anecdotal and made purely as conjectures.

Funny worked up some people can get over how others spend their money. I'm glad you dropped $5.2k and seemed proud to not need a return policy. Good for you, bud!

I was curious about this too and ended up going of the i7/32GB/V20. Even though I ordered on Thursday I have to wait until December 6th for it to arrive :( .

I think this tread beautifully shows that only very few people actually read MR forums. There are probably dozens of thousands of units with i7+Vega Pro 16 having been sold but still nobody took Trebuin on his offer...

*Vega 20.

If we’re going by Geekbench results, users are buying Vega 20 over 16 by 30:1.

Looks like the cpu wasn't being loaded. You'll want to run that command several times to get the system up to 100%. If this is the i7, those numbers seriously concerns me. It's not correctly loaded for the test so we don't see it down clocking for thermal control. i9 shows clocking to about 1.8 & keeping the temp around 85. The i7 is hanging in the 90s. See if you can get the utilization chart up to 100 then run heaven.

Hi, I ran this test today on a I9, 32GB, 1TB Vega 20. Ran it for many hours. Core clocked 2GHz most of the time actuallyView attachment 806158
What did your score in the i9 come up with?

I loaded it before, there was a huge spike on the Intel monitor after I did and it took off like a rocket so I know it did.
[doublepost=1543987921][/doublepost]See, I just loaded it....not as stupid as I look.

He meant to "load" the CPU to 100% utilization, like Reppeg did, not to "load" the monitoring software before benchmark.

If you guys want to play this, having just the CPU graph is pointless, the GPU is throttling also, you have ping-pong between two throttling algorithms developed by two different companies and prioritized by a third one, so you may end up anywhere temperature wise. Add to the mix the inconsistency of Apple's quality control and whatever difference you will see will have nothing to do with one being i7 and the other being i9. There would be no difference between the two in such scenario, other than those two outside factors.

Thank you Captain Obvious.....as shown the screenshot, the gadget was open then I ran the terminal command.

Sorry, that's my fault, it does need to be run 12 times to get it about 100%. Double check on 11 because the system may load the rest, thought doubtful. I suspect the temp is just a behavior anomaly.

I don't know what to tell you.....this is after running the command, before launching Heaven, then after running it.

You need to open 12 terminal windows and run it at the same time in all of them. >dev/null redirection takes over console and whatever you type thereafter is just displayed text.
