Another brand to consider may be the Emotiva Pro line of studio speakers.

Check them out at www.emotivapro.com.

BTW, there are starting to be some nice suggestions on this thread. Maybe a thread should be started for computer audio/speakers.

One thing to keep in mind and consider

is whether you are looking for near field monitors or standard stereo speakers. Are you looking to provide excellent sound for yourself while seated at your computer - or in a small room? Then near field is excellent. Are you looking to provide excellent sound for a large room running off your computer - then near field not the thing for you. This is a big decision that people sometimes over look. My Swans (see above) are EXCELLENT near field monitors and blow me away when seated at my desk. They also serve as EXCELLENT speakers filling my small home office (about 12 x 12). I would not choose them for my living or family room.

picked up a pair of Audio Engine 2's today. really wanted the krk 5's, but i just thought they were way too big for my setup. so far pleasently surprised with these. im coming from a 2.1 altec lansing setup

I just purchased a set of Audioengine A2 as well a few months ago and I'm blown away of the clarity, precision, mid-bass, and more. It's way better than I could have expected. It's worth it.

Well I end up buying the Companions 20 just now at the Bose Store. I heard then at the store and they sound very good... Will see when I get home

Well, so far the Companions 20 from Bose sound really good... they really fill the room very nice. Great bass too.. it's amazing how these small speakers sound like if there was a bass box. Very happy with my new speakers... :)

I like Bose products in general from a performance/aesthetics advantage but do consider them generally pricey for the features. I buy them when I need good sounding speakers but where decorum is a priority.

However, the Companion 20 are some of the best sounding DT speakers I've ever heard. And for the great sound they provide the cost is actually very reasonable.

Enjoy! :)

I got the Bose Companions 5's and I would suggest these to anyone. It comes with a sub woof that rumbles and sound great. I would advise anyone who can stomach the price.

I love those too but it was out of my budget for a mile.. $399 plus tax is too much for computer speakers for me. But they really sound great...

What I really like about the Companion 20's is the size. They fit very nice in my desk and the sound is really nice. Very clear and crisp... love them. 100% recommend them
