What do you want to use it for? And since you have ~$1200 to spend and the PBs start at $1599 w/o any discounts or upgrades I say iBook. Unless you're willing to buy a used PB for that price. But new, iBook is within your price range 🙂

Definately go for an iBook over a low end PowerBook,theres barely any difference in speed...I actually sold my PowerBook to get a 12" iBook.

I recommend approaching the apple store and ordering a 12" iBook with bluetooth.
