Apparently my Logitech M510 is being deprecated along with a bunch of other Logitech mice. The basics will continue to work, but I am no longer able to assign functions to buttons/wheel. Logitech says LCC should still work, but it doesn’t, at least not for me. Their support site was recommending their Logi Options software originally, which doesn’t work either, so they seem to be confused, which doesn’t give me a lot of confidence in buying another mouse from them. At least right now. I’ve used their mice for years though.

The Logitech M510 mouse ($25) I’m using now has 4 buttons and a click/tilting scroll wheel. That’s more than enough functionality for me. Two buttons would be enough with a click/tilting scroll wheel. It must have assignable button functions. I’m a bit hesitant about a bluetooth right now with 11.0. The Logitech Unifying Receiver thing has worked great in the past, I don’t know if it will no longer work with 11.0. I would even consider a wired mouse at this point.

The Mac Magic Mouse doesn’t appeal to me, or their trackpad.

Is anyone having good luck with their mouse in 11.0?

Sounds like you need Logitech Options and a compatible mouse. The question is...is there a comprehensive list of mice that are fully supported by Options...check the bottom of the page here. Be sure to click the little icon at the bottom to expand the full list. I see an M510 wireless on the list.

Or the list of NOT compatible mice here.

Bluetooth has come a long way in the last few years. You might consider it, if you don't want to keep running the USB wireless dongle.

Well that list explains some things. The M510 on that list has a footnote:

1. Previous version of M510, M545, and M546 are supported by Logitech SetPoint on Windows and Logitech Control Center on macOS
Apparently they're using the same model number for a mouse with different innards. So some M510s are (were) supported by LCC, some are supported by Options. That's crazy to keep the same model number. How is a customer to know which one is on the shelf at their retailer?

Your link is missing there. I assume it's the same link I posted above.

I've read of many bluetooth problems with 11.1, supposedly fixed in 11.2, but not out yet.

Thanks for your reply!

I'd suggest a Logitech mouse (numerous ones available).

However -- instead of the Logitech software to set it up, I'd recommend something called "Steermouse" instead:

No doubt that Logitech is doing a poor job of being clear. Different mouse, same model name, incomplete lists, and outdated info. Painful.

Here is the other link I messed up, for unsupported devices...but I doubt it is complete, as there is no mention of older mice, and no idea of where the cutoff is: hold old is old?

As for SteerMouse...though I have not used it, if it works with every mouse (or nearly) it might be a good idea. You might be able to use your existing mouse you like, and, nearly any other mouse in the future.
