Windows Remote Desktop Connection works fine. I used to use it all the time to access a Windows server. You will find that Parallels will have snappier video.

Are you speaking of running Windows Remote Desktop from Windows or simply running it off OSx? Thanks for the reply.

with Remote Desktop, you are running the Windows machine that you are connected to. all the Windows server is doing is transmitting the desktop over the internet to your computer. everything is choppier because of that, but it works well enough.

Instead of starting a new thread, I figured I would use my older thread from May. I finally ordered my MBP yesterday. I purchased the 15.4 Hi-Res Anti, i7. Thanks again for everyone's help in this thread.

I have a question as I am trying to figure out if I will need to install Windows or not. If I do, I want it to be the first thing I do. I thought I was going to need to as you can see from my original questions above. However, my new access to our corporate systems uses Windows Remote Desktop Connection to gain access to our work server. I have been searching the threads and internet and I want to make sure this can be done from OSx to a Windows Server to then emulate the Windows desktop on my Mac. I will need complete functionality with this, so if it cannot be done I will install Windows. If anybody has done this and has advice, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance for the help. I should have my MBP in hand Wednesday or Thursday.

My wife uses a MacBook to get access, via the internet, to a Citrix system at work. I assume this is similar to what you are doing since it boots up and looks like Windows. I'll check. In any case, she has no problems connecting and running the school district supplied Windows-based software via the internet on her Mac.

Similar, but a little different than using Citrix. This does give me some hope though. I appreciate the response.

Toxic - Thank you for your help with this. I guess my last question is. Would the performance be better if I installed Windows on the machine to do this or is it exact same performance whether using Windows or OSx to connect to the Remote Desktop Software and access Windows Server?
