i basically need something really simple. im making html pages with products on the page. all im looking for is choosing quantity or size and an add to cart button. something as simple as paypal's cart system. backend doesnt need to be anything crazy either, something that holds orders and customer info.

i have tried x-cart, zen cart, os commerce, etc. i just need something simple.

any ideas?

been there, done that. nothing comes close to what im looking for, unless im missing something. ive found mel's e-commerce is good, but i dont like directing my customers off site for checkout.

Pay Pal

Did you think about PayPal? Also GoDaddy.com offers shopping carts and they have very good products and services at cheap prices... Good Luck

Shopping cart nightmares

Hi Everyone, I am a newbie, so please be patient.
I have designed a website in GoLive and I need to add a shopping cart to my layout. So far I have been able to locate 1 company to assist me, the others want me to use their templates which means I have to give up on the design I have worked so hard on.
I am not html savvy but I am a graphic designer and GoLive was easy enough for me to pick up because of my history with Adobe products.
We tried to understand ZenCart but it was too complicated for us. We are also looking for something reasonable, most services are running about $85 per month for a PayPal based services.
Can anyone please help me understand how these shopping carts work and what would be a good choice for a beginner?

Check out Veracart, I interviewed with them a few months ago and after a 30 min 'here's everything we do' demonstration they asked me to setup a shopping cart from scratch with a blank HTML page. Took me 5 minutes. All you do is add some code to your header to identify which account you are with them, and then some javascript to the body to pull up the shopping cart (hosted on their servers). Yes, there is a monthly fee but after messing with free shopping carts myself on a few different sites (Zen, OS) I think it's well worth the fee to not have to deal with complicated PHP. Especially when it comes to customization. With Veracart it falls in your normal HTML template, and then customizing the store layout is easy.
