I'm looking for some software similar to Plex that could play my downloaded AVI files. I've been using VLC, which works great, yet it lacks a larger font and real sorting utilities. It would be a plus if I could also have music through this application, but not necessary.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks

Call me stupid but I couldn't find a way to play AVI files in Plex... it only gives me the option for Search/Preferences/Channel Directories. All I've been able to watch is YouTube videos (which it does quite well I might add).

I play hundreds of .avi files in Plex. Just add them, the same way you'd add movies or TV shows.

If you visit the Plex site, you'll find lots of support information on how to set up and use Plex.

    Well, I feel stupid.

I'll follow those instructions. Thank you very much.

No need to feel stupid. We're always learning. I rarely use the online content of Plex. The real benefit of the app to me is managing and watching my hundreds of movies, TV shows and music videos on my HDTV, Macs and iPhones, and being able to use the iPhone as a remote control for Plex.
