I just upgraded my AW2 to the AW5 and the Pedometer++ app used to show me just the number of steps on my watch face. Now it is showing a ring that I have to tap in order to see the actual number of steps I’ve taken. I just want to be able to look at my watch and see how many steps I’ve taken. Any recommendations?

StepsApp has a choice between setting a circle and setting the number of steps/milage. But now that I am paying attention - it might not be updating itself without touching it
ETA - it does update itself but not immediately from what I am seeing now

Try Duffy or Stepwise. Depending on face & position, they will also show # of steps. Be aware that watchOS only updates complications like these only every 5-10 minutes.

As @xraydoc mentions, for any step app it depends on the face and the position.
I have not seen any step app with the count as a sub-dial complication. (let me know if that's not true)
Duffy shows the count in any of the faces corner complications, and in every complication for Modular.

I think Stepwise will show numerical count on the Infograph dials.

What face are you considering that has sub-dials? Maybe InfoGraph? See attached for one in the lower left dial position.

Any face with complications in the sub-dial area, i.e. where you have world clock, solar, moon and date
in your image, i.e. Infograph, Meridian, California...

@xraydoc - I installed Stepwise (see sub-dial bottom and Bottom left below )to see what it does.
In a sub-dial complication, it shows an abbreviated value, the hundreds and thousands.

Interesting choice of abbreviation. Those types of complications only support limited characters in the middle row, so developers have to get creative if they want to display over about 1000 steps.
