Hi all,

I was hoping someone might be able to help. I have the disc version of FlatOut 2 which runs fine in Snow Leopard but I'm having trouble getting it running in High Sierra. When I open it, it sits in the dock but nothing happens (where normally it would play the intro videos/spash logos etc).

Checking the console reveals the following but I assume it just means the updates no longer exist at whatever location they were originally placed or that the servers have since been turned off:
"The game could not contact the updates URL. There may be an undetected newer version of the game online."

I've noticed the game is still for sale on the app store and appears to compatible. Having contacted Virtual Programming I've been told that they no longer support the game but that the App Store version will run in High Sierra as it's a 32-bit app. Does any know if the retail disc version ever got any updates to make it compatible with newer versions of OSX at the time, and if so where I might find them? Or, if there's any tricks I might try to get it running in High Sierra on a 2011 iMac?

It's not the end of the world as I can always reboot to Snow Leopard - I was just hoping it might be possible to get it working in High Sierra somehow.

Many thanks.

If it's possible, the fine folks at PCGamingWiki will likely have a note on how to do this.

The chances of an individual MacRumors participant knowing this sort of esoterica is incredibly small.

Best of luck.

Steam has the Windows version for $1.99 if you can run bootcamp.

If you like the game, I would buy the MacOS version of the game from the app store and try to get a refund if it doesn't run.
