That's funny that you made this thread because I have always overlooked the mini for some reason. It just never registered with me to take them seriously. Now that I've been looking into upgrading my Mid-2007 iMac, it's looking like a more viable and economical option.

Unfortunately I already ordered a 512GB SSD, the cost of that hard drive alone could of bought me a pretty good mini that would out perform my current system 3 folds. Looks like I'll be having to get an RMA when it arrives.

Live near a military base? Got friends in the military? I bought my new Mac Mini base model for $589 last weekend from the base exchange and bought 8GB of memory at the local Best Buy for $50

Oh yeah...and no sales tax so the money I saved on tax bought my RAM upgrade....paired with no shipping, I'm happy...

yep, I was looking at iMacs when I came across these mini's. They seem pretty good from everything I have read.

What were you gonna use the 512 ssd on?

On my Mid-2007 iMac! Sounds ridiculous in retrospect. I ended up going for the SSD/HD combo instead. I ordered the Samsung 830 126GB for booting up and a Seagate Momentus 750GB for pictures/movies/music/etc. Saved about $200 going that route. I'd say with this upgrade it should add an additional 2 years minimum before I'd have to do a full model upgrade.
