Finally decided to pull the trigger on an apple watch. Been debating on it for weeks and stalking these forums. My question is, would I have a better chance of getting one quicker ordering it through apple.con (currently says 1-2 weeks). Or should I try through an Apple Store? I live in the Chicago area.

Definitely order it now. My watch says available to ship 5-7 days. I ordered mine yesterday morning and it's already preparing for shipment.

I put an order in yesterday afternoon, but status has not changed.hearing they may be dropping this week in stores, I am wondering if I will have better chance at picking one up in person. But if yours is already preparing for shipment,I may hold out.

I would order it through Apple.com, that way you are guaranteed the watch. It's now a 1-2 week shipping...which is down from 2-3 weeks when I ordered on June 2 (Mine arrives tomorrow - earlier than expected, originally stated June 24-30th.).

Plus you never know how many 42MM Sports they will have in store, the stock may sell out quickly. Also with 7 more countries will have the option to get the watch on the 26th, demand might spike up a notch.

Exactly. It wouldn't surprise me if they had a reservation system like they did with the iPhone and that attracted a TON of re-sellers. How they were able to get a reservation within seconds baffles me.
I remember when I bought a phone I had to be escorted out of the store because the scalpers were harassing me. Crazy time.

Orders are processing a lot faster than what initial delivery estimate shows after ordering online (when status is still "Processing".) On 6/3 I ordered a 42 mm Sports Grey w/ Black Sports Band, which is definitely one of the more in-demand combinations, and it went from estimated delivery of 6/24-7/1 to arriving tomorrow, 6/15.

So a total of 12 days, but I'd be shocked if that doesn't drop to 5-8 days with all new orders as they prepare to sell the watches in store.

You might also want to check out www.wheresmywatch.com My estimated delivery date by Apple was June 19th, but this website said it would be delivered on June 2nd. I was pretty shocked when I actually did receive the watch on June 2nd and the website was correct so it is more accurate than Apple's estimate in my experience.

I see you've already ordered it, you would have gotten it sooner if you had ordered it with the blue sport band. Those seem to be shipping in 1 to 2 days right now.

If you see that the stores are selling them you may want to call before you go to see if they have what you want. I don't believe that they will have all models available for sale. I believe that they will mirror what we see in the forums. The models with the faster shipping times will be the ones in the stores as well. Those with the slower shipping times will not be available until some time later.

Order now, this way you can start the waiting process. The only debate you will have it which watch model to purchase. Some have gone back and forth and still can't make up their mind.

Ordered last night and expected delivery between June 29th and July 7th

That isn't a wait at all. Talk to some folks that ordered at initial preorder and just received it last week. Now that is a wait. What you have is nothing to what others have gone through.
