I pulled the trigger on this G. Skill ram. Thanks for the heads up!

2GB here I come!

Hopefully I'll get my post count up to post my 2x512 ram in the marketplace. :)

I also decided to purchase 2 more, opted for the free shipping as I'm in no hurry right now. It's great RAM, have had no issues since and its got lifetime warranty!

i just got my blackbook from fedex today and immediately inspected it and then swapped out the ram for 2 gigs of g.skill.... and its runnin fast as lightning i love it. ordered it 3 days ago and got free 3 day shipping, been working out great so far (haha even though i've only had it a few hours)

Good to know! I just wish I pulled the trigger earlier and didn't opt for the free shipping! I can't wait! :)

I hope this doesnt come to late for most, but CompUSa has a great deal right now. PNY 5300 ram is $99 after instant and mail in rebates. Normal $160 - $35 instant and then $25 mail in rebate. This is in store and online right now. It is PNY Optima ram. Works great and have had it installed in many many customers Macs. I also have some in mine.
This goes until Saturday night but it also comes back on sale for the same pretty consistantly.

Their Optival ram is way cheap $70.99 I'm almost ready to pull the trigger. I've seen reviews that are very positive and some negative reviews. The price almost makes it work jumping on it though. I wonder if the hyper ram is worth the extra cost though.

Bunch of marketing blather. "Hyperformance" this and "highest possible speed" that...

know this, that any RAM that is 100% compatible with a Mac, will run at EXACTLY the same speed as every other 100% compatible module in that Mac, because the Mac sets the speed, not the RAM. No Mac that I am aware of thus far implement any kind of overclocking or automatic (or adjustable) latency reduction. So for me, claims of superior speed or performance signal a less than forthright seller.

Thanks

PS: A good seller covers shipping both ways on a DOA purchase.

Ordered Omni RAM Thurs, Recieved Tues (FL to CA)...

Thought I'd add a counterpoint for those expressing doubts about Omni Tech.
As stated earlier in this thread, I ordered 2 X 1 GB sticks on last Thursday.
I got a confirmation e-mail Friday that the RAM had shipped, and it arrived
on Tuesday (from Florida to Cali - 5 days including weekend). :)

This is my first experience with them, and so far I'm rather impressed.
Perhaps they had problems in the past, and did something about them.
Well see how the RAM holds up - so far so good! Yes, $146.98 shipped  ...

Just a note. If you call newegg up, they will issue a shipping credit for an item you need to return.

Macbook Pro Compatible

I just, today, got my first Mac - a 17" Macbook Pro with 2GB of memory. If this was a PC I would know exactly what to do, but its not so I need some help. If I buy this ram will it boost me up to 3gb or do I need to get a 2gb stick to replace a 1gb stick in my system. It is a stock system from apple. I appreciate the help.

there are only two slots on your laptop, both are full 1gb + 1gb unless you paid extra for a single 2gb chip.

you can always open it up and look. take the battery out and un screw those three screws and remove the panel.

I just want to double check, this ram work with my iMac 2.0 core duo 20 inch? Model #MA417LL/A right?

it appears to be the same specs

I just wanted to say thanks to whoever started this thread -- I just installed two 1 gig sticks in my Macbook for $150, shipped. The computer seems faster, but it's hard for me to tell because I haven't had it that long, and I don't use a lot of taxing programs. Still, this is the best memory price I've seen.

I'm sory that I don't know the difference between those two memory sticks. Maybe one is faster memory than the other?

I also wanted to say thanks. I just ordered 2 sticks for less than $150 shipped. This is a great deal! I can't wait to try it out.
