    Hi,

So im looking to buy a new 24" iMac, and as I live in the Bristol/Bath area, there are no "official" Mac retailers.
However there are both Apple retailers in Bath, and in Bristol... so, does anyone know what most non-official retailers T's&C's are when it comes to replacements?
I've heard a few people who have had stuck/dead pixels have been able to swap them in-store for a new one, but im worried the non-official shops wouldnt do that, i reallly dont want to spend over £1000 on a new computer and having a 'dodgy' screen.

Or do you guys suggest buying it online? Would this be the safer option?
Or perhaps John Lewis (2 year warranty)?

I really want a perfect working computer (which I guess isn't too much to ask...)!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Hi

John Lewis would be a good bet - There's another thread on here about buying from John Lewis and the crux of it is you can take it to an Apple Store if something breaks in the first year.

In the 2nd year of warranty, it's likely John Lewis would sort it themselves.

They're a reputable company so I wouldn't have any worries, and a free 2-year warranty gives you additional piece of mind!

    Alternatively, Amazon.co.uk are good.

I wouldn't consider PC World, they struggle with Apple's, allegedly ;)

    Hi Ya

    PC who ??

I bought mine online from Apple UK :)
I have the 20 inch version......

I will be honest and say mine works very fast and solidly, I do have the screen top to bottom gradient problem, I do not do any professional artwork so I just re calibrated and I can live with it, unless I go looking for it I don't really notice it. There is a fonts DPI problem but this is to be sorted out in Leopard I have heard.

Enjoy your new Imac, I am :)

If you fancy a day trip to Exeter, they are opening an official Apple Store there soon in the new princesshay development.
