They don't come with AppleCare, but you can buy AppleCare for them same as a new machine.

Doesn't surprise me that inventory is limited right now—you'll see more models come into the Refurb store once the M4 machines are announced, I suspect. But it doesn't always follow logical patterns. You just have to check back frequently until you find the machine you want.

Buying a MacBook Pro 16" with the m3pro CPU from Apple's online refurbished store might be the best compromise between "power" and "price".

Like cateye says above, they will probably be more plentiful in the refurb store AFTER the new m4 models are introduced.

Apple refurbs come with the same 1-year warranty "as if they were new", AND you can buy AppleCare for them if you want.

BE AWARE:
If you're really intent on buying, then you need to check into Apple's online refurbished store daily -- actually, morning, noon, and night. Units in the configuration you may want will "come in" and "go out" quickly. So... know what you're looking for, and BE READY TO BUY when you see one.

(The 2018 Mini I'm typing this reply on was an Apple refurb purchase...)

Yeah i was hoping for that, that's excellent. I love this about new releases: great time to buy the tier just under it.

Here's a doll baby with 8 TB SSD, 64GB RAM. 5000.$ though, and a little more with AppleCare, which I would probably get for the first year.

Tell me please, what is the399.$ AppleCare vs. / 149$ difference? Can I pay 149. for one year, then renew if I want to?

Steep price, I might be drawn to Ebay for a machine more like 3500$

Thank

Thanks bro, I am going to wait until mid or late November to upgrade my machine so I will be sure to do that. Do you know your posts, with their dire warnings and frequent use of all caps come off a bit strident? In any event, yes, going to wait.

Incredibly, after I just configured a new machine at Apple store, and it said they can deliver by November 20th! lol! What? If I'm paying 5200.$, I would prefer to see it within a few days. Is that typical with new machines? This ain't like buyin a Lamborghini to me: this is my workhorse and once I'm ready to buy I wanna hit the ground running with it. I may be buying off Ebay or other reseller for this reason.

Outside of the configurations available at retail, any other configuration would be a build to order, so they only build them as orders come in. That's a big reason why you were seeing November 20 as a delivery date. The fact that the new M4 MacBooks will be announced this week may also play a role due to M3 production winding down.

My advice is to STAY AWAY from ebay.
Too many reports from folks in this forum who bought there, then had problems.

If you really, really want "problem-free" used, buy from the Apple refurbished store.
