Why not do a reinstallation of Windows?
And do you want to kill it software or hardware wise?
I just want my PC gone.
Unusable forever? Fill a cup of water, open the side of the case, and splash it inside, make sure it releases the magical smoke. Thats really the only plausible way to destroy computer hardware forever (besides dunking slowly into a molten steel). But seriously, It's probably fine if you just take the hard drive out and take the rest of the computer to your local electronics recycling location.
Try and download Bonzai buddy. That thing was HORRIBLE to try and get rid of. Even after a restore on my friends machine that stupid thing was still there! (Although in a creepier form since its colors were screwed up).
Either that or put in a sony CD with their rootkit then try and remove the rootkit. That will screw up your windows install.
If your trying to kill the hardware itself just spill something on it by accident
Wow. Why not bring it to a recycling centre or donate it? Just make sure to remove the HDD.
Otherwise it would be quite a waste to destroy working hardware just because the software and OS is ****ed up, which can be easily repaired.
But to each his own I guess. ****ed up as it may be.
As others have mentioned remove the HDD, then take it to a local church, library, or other organization that will give you a tax deductible receipt. That way they can throw another HDD into it; install Linux and give it to someone who can make use out of the computer.
i am no fan of destroying working hardware even if its a windows pc , after all it did cost money and did its job ? does it not deserve a little bit of respect , its not the pc's fault that you run windows on it
as much as i hate to say it , but i would just reinstall windows and sell it on ebay , someone might find a use for a windows pc thats still working
@ Above poster: It has done it's job, but now it'ts getting to the point where it's unusable to complete basic tasks without crashing, freezing or BSODing. Dont really thing anyone WOULD want it tbh. I'd rather be prepared than to have it go on me unexpectedly. Plus I'm planning to switch anway, this is an excuse to get it done quicker
There is still the option to reinstall, but if you want to destroy it, do it. It is yours, so you can do what you want. But know, that there is still life in this PC and it can be reanimated. And a reinstallation shouldn't take more than an hour. Maybe you could do that before you destroy it. Then it will be extra sexy.
Delete System 32
That really hurts.
Well, if you want to be able to complain to your parents that your WinBox has died, just open up the case, pull several cables out of their sockets, but it back together and it certainly won't work
Pull heasink off processor
Install a new 7200rpm hard drive, add a bit of RAM and a clean install of Windows 7. All of a sudden it will seem like a brand new computer and would have cost you less than 90 quid and about 2 hours of your time.
Or donate it.
There is no reason to destroy a PC for no good reason.
Disable the fans, continue to use it and it will die of "natural" causes. ie: Won't die directly after your actions
Good god, you have experience in silencing computers!
How selfish can you be?
Don't kill your PC.
So are you sharing this PC, or is it a semi-gift from him? Because that's pretty goddamn selfish of you to just want to destroy the PC so you can get the iMac faster. Honest, but selfish.
You want to kill your windows machine??? You mean its not already dead from normal use?
I have never managed to use windows without it crashing badly. Even on the new PC's at work.
Depending on the specs you may get some good money for it.
A nice clean install should suffice with these so called errors, no doubt caused by the user.
do what i did: give your pc to your kid and get your 1st imac
Spyware, Malware, and Viruses are a sure way to render a PC inoperable.
I don't think the OP has kids when his Dad still has a say in the computer he/she buys
Bonzai Buddy had me cracking up. I installed that by accident one time years ago on my PC. Had to format my computer afterwards.
