This would be good if true because 16 GB isn't what it used to be. My last phone only had 16 GB and I had to constantly delete apps to allow enough storage space for IOS upgrades and the like. I have 128 GB now so it's no longer an issue.

I am not so sure as I think someone posted a circuit board with a 16GB chip on it AND Apple has now fixed it so you can do an over the air update now, even with little to no memory left.

I am going for the 128GB as usual unless the offer a new 256GB!!!

I've read somewhere that Apple uses smaller storage on pre-series devices.

It would be a very good news if Apple increases the basic storage to 32GB.

With Samsung starting at 32GB, it's likely they would follow and also start at 32GB. At least I hope that's the case.

Yes please! I was thinking that they might do the iPod Touch scheme and offer them at the same prices as it (on contract, obviously). But this would be even better. In fact, if the 32GB 6S Plus costs £40 more than the 32GB 6 Plus, I might jump on it, rather than going to the 6 Plus.

Its possible and I would truly appreciate that. However knowing Apple, I'll believe it when I see it.

I look at Apples business strategy like a degenerate gambler would. It won't just cost Apple the price of 32gb over 16gb memory modules but it will cost them the price of 32gb over 16gb memory modules PLUS 100 dollars from the people that aren't buying 64gb iPhones because 32gb is enough. I'm one of those people, I would go for the 32gb base model rather then my usual 64gb model. Plus if the base model is 32gb I can't justify 100 dollars more for 32gb more storage. The current 48gb from 16gb to 64gb jump for 100 dollars seems....."reasonable".....

I have no doubt its coming however I won't believe it until Apple announces it.

I hope they keep the 16 GB model because I don't want the price to go way up for all the people that do not need more than 16 GB. They shouldn't have to pay that huge increase in price if they don't need it.

It won't have a price increase. 32GB will be the same price as 16GB was.

I understand that, my post was actually just joking. I've been saying for years that they would increase to 32 GB, and been wrong each year. And every year in the past every one of these posts gets a bunch of "I don't want the price to go up I only need 16 GB." People want better cameras, bigger screens, but don't force people to take over 16 GB of storage or they will get upset.

If true, this is good news. 32 GB enough for me, and it wouldn't make sense to pay $100 for an extra 32 GB I'll never need to use. 16 GB, however, is simply too little for many people.

This is exactly it. Bumping the mid-tier to 64GB and keeping the base at 16GB, allows more people who were on the fence to make that $100 jump. On the other hand though, Apple may have anticipated this and decided to milk a 16GB starting point for one more year, knowing that the 6S would start with 32GB standard.

Do you also want them to keep it at 1GB of RAM so the phone doesn't cost even more? lol

Well, RAM hasn't been something that affected the price of the phone as far as the pricepoints that were set by Apple. Storage has been. That said, the assumption is that they would go to 32 GB as the base for the price of what 16 GB used to be as the base.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic as the OP was also joking about the 32GB base model costing more.

I think people paying the extra for the 64GB over the 16GB is too much of a cash cow for Apple so i think they loath to do and would only if they deemed it absolutely needed.

I wonder if the iPod touch 6th generation's pricing of storage capacities indicates that they are willing to have one increment of $50 instead of $100?

When we talk about the cost differential, please remember that in this day and age, memory is dirt cheap. I mean we are talking an actual cost bump of 5 to 10 dollars for the manufacturer. I'm getting by with my 16G 5s, but I'll certainly not buy anything again less than 32g.

I wanted 32G phone but the store didn't have them at the time. I have a 64G Ipod touch that I could get rid of if I got a bigger storage phone.

On another site it says: "Apple has previously tested future iPhone hardware using smaller storage capacities prior to finalizing its production, so a last-minute upgrade to a higher capacity would not be unprecedented."
So there is still hope, that Apple increases the storage to 32GB.
