From the rumors, there will be no “must have” feature on the upcoming iPads. Unless something happens, I will be happy for an additional year of use as it is less than a year old and the battery is still outstanding.

‘’’How many will upgrade later this year?

Considering we’re mid cycle, I don’t think anyone is expecting one this year, maybe next year with an improved display.

Of course you may keep it this year, and upgrade it next year when it’s more likely to be refreshed.

I'm waiting for OLED iPads for my upgrade. After that I legit can't imagine what else they could do. Also waiting for updated Magic Keyboard. hoping those two come together. So either next year or the year after going off rumours.

I wouldn't go just by the rumored specs. Apple still manages to surprise me pretty often with some of their releases. For example, while we do now have iPads with M chips in them, the star of the show for those chips has largely been the Mac. I could see Apple doing something like pumping new life into iPad sales by introducing an all new Pro lineup with M3 or something crazy like that. I'm not saying they're doing that this year, they most certainly aren't. I'm just saying they are known to do things like that from time to time with all their device categories and it tends to throw people for a loop.

EDIT: My point is, I never say "I'm not upgrading this year" anymore until I see what my options are.

I am happy with my M1 iPad Pro. Plenty enough for games and other stuff. Don’t see the need to upgrade just yet. As for OLED, umm… idk. Don’t feel enticing to me enough.
What I want to upgrade would be my iPhone to start using 5G. And the dreaded macbook pro with only 2 ports.

For me, the combination of M1+16GB RAM+1TB is really good that I don't see a need to upgrade for the next few years.

OLED PWM usually gives me migraines so until Apple fixes that, OLED iPads are even more of a no-go to me.

I do want an iPad mini refresh with more RAM though.

‘Yep, I upgraded to to the 12.9 M2 and wished I had stayed with my previous M1 and saved the money. I detected no difference in speed or operation. I think I will be holding off to at least and see what the 2024 screen improvements are.

My iPad Pro 2nd Gen still works well enough, but Best Buy was offering a 12.9”M1 iPad Pro 1TB w/5G for $1099 and 12 mos. 0% financing and I had to bite. I wasn’t getting one like that any cheaper.

I had my original iPad for 8-9 years my iPad mini for 8-9 years. I expect my M1 iPad Pro to last another 5-6 years easily.

aside from OLED there isn't much rumours on the ipad pros at this point. Guessing the front camera will be moved to lanscape viewing at a guess but thats about it.

All about the display for me. Don't like the general lcd displays, but i love the Promotion XDR Display of my 12.9.
I would switch to a 14 and a 11 iPad Pro with a oled screen.

My 1TB M1 is still doing a great job bravely rendering all my LimaFusion stuff. So I’ll keep it for a couple more years.

I have to admit that a 14” iPad would get me to buy without a doubt. Take my money.
It would definitely be an intriguing product that would make even more people take a look at the iPad as a laptop just due to the screen being even closer to the MBA/MBP. I personally have a completely rejuvenated Mac addiction and don’t want to go back to that setup just yet, but I will absolutely update my iPad mini for the next iteration. I absolutely love this form factor for iPad and am using it right now as a desktop computer!

So we're surprised now that the latest Pro model in one of its most expensive versions is "still" great after just a couple months? Bet you use it for moderating discord or something...

did you upgrade from m1 to m2 already or am I understanding wrong
I believe so…

But I think the issue is the OP is under the impression that there will be new iPad Pro announced this year… yet, rumors indicate that no new models will be released this year.
