Hi and thanks for any help anyone can offer beforehand.

I have a secondhand Macbook Pro, 3 years old, that is having repeated kernel panics. The folks at the Apple store checked it out and told me I had a third party logicboard so I was referred to an authorized center. The tech there believes I have RAM slots that do not house the RAM securely. I've already sunk a fair amount into this older machine and don't want to replace the logic board. Does anyone know of any fixes I can try or that I might ask a repair person to try?

Third part logicboard? Only Apple makes logicboards that will fit in a Macbook Pro and boot Mac OS X. Does it kernel panic if you don't move the machine when it's on?

One of the symptoms was if it was moved about, it would panic. If I sat it on a desk and got it to start up, it was good.

As to "third party" those are the words they guy at the store used. Could be he was referring to the fact that it was a board NOT installed by them or an authorized center? I couldn't say.
