Poor Giants fans. NY used to be your town.

Still is, always will be. One team has a rich history with winning tradition and has actually stood at the top of the football world 7 times; the other has 1968 and a history of epic failure and Shakespearean tragedy.

The Jets are 2nd rate. 2 years of failing as usual in the penultimate game doesn't erase that. What are they now, 0-4 in the AFC Championship Game? Guess who's 4-0 in the NFC Championship Game.

Man had yet to walk on the moon the last time the Jets won anything.

LA needs a team badly.

I'd hate to see the Chargers somewhere other than SD, but the Jags would be sweet.

Florida doesn't need more than 2.

For those who don't now what has been going on in 49erLand:

The 49er's owners, the Yorks, have been planning for years to leave San Francisco because the the city wanted them to follow the plan of the SF Giants who famously built their own stadium and pissed off billionaire owners all across the country who then had a harder time getting the taxpayers to buy them upscale new homes.

The deal was to build not just a stadium, but upscale malls, etc to revitalize the awful Hunter's Point area where their decaying stadium, Candlestick Park, is located.

Steve Young and Brent Jones, ex star players and real smart guys, got a group together to buy the Yorks out and go with the city plan. The Yorks wouldn't sell because they wanted to give the team to their son Jed who was getting too old for toy trucks and Leggos.

The Yorks were rumored to be secretly planning to go to LA to get a free stadium. Elder York John made his mark by not allowing the players to get free stamps from the office... and more.

Now they are allegedly serious about a new facility in Santa Clara and the taxpayers actually voted in funds in partnership with the team to build a rather minimalistic, stadium there.

The idea of co-owning with the Raiders seems to be dead. Al Davis as a partner....no.

Some say the league in this day and age would not allow the move all the way to LA. Would the courts actually prevent a privately owned team from moving? I don't think that would be constitutional and if the Niners back up a fleet of moving vans in the middle of the night...we have a convoy.

So, it wouldn't surprise me much if the Niners went south on us, far south, but I really think they will end up in Santa Clara. Young Jeb, no longer playing Boy GM and hanging black velvet posters of Mike Singletary on his wall, supposedly is now concentrating on the stadium issue.

We will see.

I don't see the league allowing the niners to move out of the bay area. I also don't know if LA will ever get a team. How many teams have moved out in the past 30 years. It is just not a football town.

it's still a contender. It's the first illustration in my post above and it's still every bit as active a proposal as the Farmers downtown proposal. It's just that the downtown stadium proposal has recently released some info and generated some publicity. Both are just proposals at the moment.

Most likely the real competition between them is to see which one gives up first and then the other one will fade away too. :p

Should go to Walnut. If not, I can't wait to sit in traffic on the night that we've got both an NFL game and a Laker game going on.

But LA will probably win because AEG is in bed with our dumbass mayor, who's now putting out corny commercials running PR for the new stadium.

Personally I think we're just not a football city. We're love basketball, baseball, and hockey but most Los Angelinos won't care if we have an NFL team reppin us, especially if that team sucks. Most diehard NFL fans here are either Chargers fans who moved up from SD for work or old school Raiders fans from back in the days when Raiders gear was gang attire. I doubt either team will make it here - SD loves their team too much and Al Davis is too old to move again.

+1 pretty much thats what I thought, especially with the raiders gang bangin attire:p

I like sports and stuff, but professional football has been vacant in Los Angeles for the past 30yrs, which has probably cause many people not to be too anxious about this

People go cheer for USC or UCLA football as a way to substitute our lost football teams...

But I'm now hearing chargers may look up into heading north, St. Louis too... Just thinking of the Los Angeles Chargers makes me think

L.A. already has a football team - They are called L.A. Galaxy.

Unless you are talking about hand-egg?

Actually there are two. LA Galaxy and Chivas USA. Also the Home Depot Center isn't that old. Why would you want to replace it now?

The who? Oh are they the ones that gave that guy all that money to try to make the sport popular.

and after all these years without a team and countless "new" stadiums, we don't spend much time getting worked up over these proposals any more

Thanks for the post about our stadium!

We are happy to be bring Football back to LA in an awesome new way. Our stadium has over 600 acres of land with 25,000 parking spots for parking and tailgating.

We are all approved, LEED Certified and we are ready to go!

Presently we are in talks with teams and we hope to get things rolling after the season comes to an end.

If you'd like to learn more just click the link in our sig to our website and thanks for keeping the topic going!

I heard of the first one, but Farmers Field is official, i even heard it on the radio and people were calling to say what the team name should be

they include:

LA C.R.A.S.H
LA Rioters
LA Traffic
LA Gridlock
LA Muchachos

and many more:D

Actually we are official and we are approved. The other stadium still has approvals to go through before being ready.

We could literally drop the shovel at anytime
