Hi All

Just inherited my son’s MacBook. Download Zoom software and logged into my account etc. When I joined the meeting, it was evident others couldn’t hear me, even though microphone symbol not muted and I couldn’t hear others. I left and rejoined a few times and same thing occurred. It seems to work for a minute or two then it kicked in.

Done a few searches, but couldn’t find anything that assisted.

Never had this problem on iPad or iPhone.

Thanks for your time.

Does the microphone work in other applications or is it only Zoom that is having this issue? I’m wondering if perhaps your microphone may be faulty.

Hi

Many thanks for swift response. My son is adamant that it’s ok, as he used the same MacBook with Zoom for the private school lessons he has. Is there a way of checking that the microphone works?

Yep. Search Voice Memos on Spotlight and then press record. Speak for a bit then stop the recording and play it back. If you don’t hear anything then you’ll likely have diagnosed the problem being with the microphone.

Thanks. This is what I get when I search for voice memos.

What do I do from here?

Thanks

Maybe try FaceTime, go into the preferences and test audio that way? I know skype will let you do that too. I sometimes have problems with zoom audio, and a restart tends to fix it, just a thought if you haven’t tried it yet.

Thanks. Battery went and internal microphone seems to have been reinstalled. Thanks.

Changed again now. Now when I go into sounds, input, the internal microphone has gone. Now only says external microphone??

No idea what’s going on.

Thanks

If you have a set of earbuds or headset with mic use that instead. On a zoom call you will sound better to others since the mic is closer to your mouth. And you will be able to hear them without room noise.
