I use to be able to tell the HomePod to play all songs when I left the house and music would still be playing when I got back a few days later. Some time ago that function seemed to have gone away to a land far far away. I have noticed the music has stopped playing when I get in. I didn't change any settings and I think I checked all settings that could possibly make the HomePod stop playing music.

That’s very brave of you to let this ticking time bomb play for days at a time without a break lol. I never tried this personally but wonder if Apple implemented some type of sleep feature after a period of user inactivity to preserve the life of the HomePods. So they don’t get too warm for too long.

It’s none of my business, but I’m really curious… is that to deter burglary? Make it seem like someone is home?

Possibly losing connection? Do you have Lossless enabled? There’s a thread discussing how Lossless chews up bandwidth. B/D discovered that.

There is an automation in the HomePod settings that pauses music when nobody is at home, double check to see if that is set in the Home app:

Or more likely to avoid paying “unnecessary” Apple Music royalties. (Not saying they do stop playback, just that this would be a more plausible reason.)

yep to deter burglary, lol and to hear music when I get back from being out.
I never had any problems with the HomePods other than this one. I will make sure lossless is off. Thanks.
