For the past month I've been getting the low storage notification on my 32 GB iPhone 5s. I have about 7 GB of photos and videos, and then for some reason apps like Yelp, Facebook and Spotify eat up 400, 600, and 800 MB of storage when I don't actually store anything in them.

Another issue is that I pay 99 cents per month to back certain things up in iCloud. I do not want to use iCloud to store photos and videos however.

    How can this be mitigated?

Hey! The first issue is that apps like Spotify and Facebook store data like pics and songs in them so you can see them quickly when you open the apps again, without having to load the whole thing every single time, so there's really no way to fix that as far as I'm aware.

For the second issue you can go on Settings - iCloud - Storage - Manage Storage - (under backups choose your iPhone) - Deselect Photo Library.

    Hope that helps!

You could purchase a personal cloud like the Airport and cut and paste.

You can usually uninstall and reinstall an app which would clear out its temporary storage (cache). It will start filling up again as you use the app, but it's a way to clear it out every once in a while when you might want to do it.
