I installed newer graphics drivers off NVIDIA's page. Did a reboot, booted into Windows 7 and Windows installs a couple of updates. After the desktop is loaded, I can't seem to adjust brightness via the F1 or F2 keys. Boot Camp drivers loaded as volume can be adjusted via F10 and F11. Did a couple of reboots, nada.

It is barely usable as the screen is shining brighter than a thousand suns and it's night here. I really, really want to preserve my retinas. :)

Is there a workaround?

So I had the same exact problem and I think I figured out what to do. It's some sort of nVidia update that's messing everything up. Here's what I did.
Right click on your desktop in Windows and click screen resolution
Then click "Advanced Settings" on the right side.
Under the "Adapter" tab in the box labeled "Adapter Type" click Properties.
Go to the "Driver" tab and click the option to "Roll Back Driver".
It worked great for me. So easy and it just reverted whatever stupid update had caused the issue in the first place. Let me know if this helped at all.
