I recently dropped my left AirPod between my car seat and the center console. I initially saw it, grabbed it then dropped it again. After extensive searching (with others), I cannot find the AirPod. My car seems to have swallowed it (no seriously).

Are there any alternatives to paying Apple $69 for a replacement? I see a few left AirPods for sale on Ebay, would that work? Or is it tied to someone's iCloud?

Check the carpet under the seat, on my car (Nissan) the carpet starts just under the seat, found all sorts under there, Roman coins you name it, it'll be there, things don't just disappear.

You could also try find my Airpod alert where, Which will make an audible noise where it is located. It must be wedged between something in your vehicle, I would just try to look as thorough as possible. Otherwise, if you can't find it, then I would just pay the $69 for a new one, versus purchasing one off eBay in my opinion.

Yep as relentless says it'll be there.
My car is 12 years old from new. The driver seat has a known fault where a bracket snaps in time. I had this happen to me and I picked up a replacement seat from a scrappy.
The guy took the seat out in 60 seconds, and its got the electrics attached.
All good new seat.
So worse comes to the worse have seats removed.

Yeah, it'll be there somewhere unless it's managed to fall out of the car when you stopped somewhere. Many (like 12-ish) years ago, I lost my 1st-gen iPod nano in the car and tore the car apart trying to find it. It was nowhere to be found. I couldn't pin down the time I lost it so I wasn't even sure it was in the car and eventually gave up looking for it. Maybe two years later, I happened to glance down as I was buckling my seat belt and saw it--when I dropped it, it must've slid right into the sheath that holds the seat belt buckle end upright and, being so skinny, it went all the way inside.

Do you know how to look for a single AirPod? I have (and had) find my iPhone turned on. When I use find my AirPod, it shows it on the map, but it’s just the one I already have.

On the Apple support page, they have an image where you can play the audio for both, but I’m not getting that, just a single option to play sound.

Shame no 3.5 I love my Koss Porta Pro, could not do without them.

I had one fly out of my ear when descending at 45mph on my bike. I used Find My iPhone (with the remaining AirPod in the case) but couldn’t find it. I ended up sporting $69 for a replacement....
