Somehow our ATV Remote is lost. We have looked everywhere, but it's nowhere to be found.
We are of course able to control the ATV via the Apple Watch, iPhone or whatever, but it's easier to have a dedicated remote lying around.

There should be ways to find out where it is though, I am thinking; Is it possible to see if the remote still is connected to the ATV? Ie, within bluetooth range of the device? If so, that limits the search area somewhat.

Any other methods?

No, I think there should be though. Seems like Apple doesn't really design their HW and SW for user experience anymore.

You can do this in Settings, under Remotes. I am unsure if it would help you find out were it is, but as long as it is in range and has a charge, it will show up under Remotes in Settings.

Probably found it’s way inside your sofa.

The little tiny Siri Remote is horribly designed imo, unless it was designed to be lost in furniture.

I lost mine in a new reclining chair a few times. The chair seemed like it was perfectly designed to internally store my iPhone SE and Siri Remote, and I had to remove some of the staples to remove the fabric lining to retrieve my devices.

I have also lost the Siri Remotes in sofas, and it even ended up inside my favorite comforter of mine that had a tiny hole in it, but just big enough for the Siri Remote to slide in.

they will disconnect after a while by themselves, so if it's been "gone" more that a few hours it's probably asleep

If your TV supports HDMI-CEC, the TV remote will work to control basic functions over HDMI,

The old silver or white versions of the remote still work if you have one laying around. Obviously they use IR, so you might have to reposition the aTV so you can hit the sensor on it's front
Most of the "multi-in-one" remotes have the apple IR codes built in, so it's possible the remote from your cable box or other gear can be programed to control it

Thanks for the answers.
We guess that one of the cousins that visited during the weekend was responsible, but he refuses to admit that he has anything to do with it (his history says otherwise, but that's another story).

It's not visible in the settings anymore.

However, I managed to program the TV control so we can use that until we find the real remote, or buy a new ATV later this year.

BTW, I actually like the Siri remote. I know I'm one of few... :)

Count your blessings and celebrate. Losing that horrid device is cause for celebration, at least it is in my world.

You're sitting on it. Just stand up and look behind you.
