I have never used Cloud for backup of my iPad but always backed up to my iMac.
Upgraded to Sierra on my iMac, only to find that my iPad backups have been lost.

All backups prior to the upgrade date are missing - and wouldn't you know it; I need to restore my Calendar.

Is there a rollback option?

Many thanks to any who help

Did you archive the backups? If you use time machine you can get them from the backup.

Even though you dont

even though you don't use iCloud for backups (calendar is not part of iCloud backups anyway), you should still be able to sign in to iCloud on the iPad and turn on the iCloud calendar and the info should sync. Same for notes, contacts.
